Week 4 Activity 1

In the spirit of Halloween I added a jack-o-lantern to the header of my blog. I also added a calendar widget. I added a jack-o-lantern because I think that pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns are the main face of Halloween. I added a calendar so people can count or look at the days until the next Halloween arrives!

Week 4 Activity 2

A poem about Halloween:

It’s Hallows Eve.

You know it’s near.

You can feel the darkness and the fear.

Beware of the monsters, that come up to the door.

You know that they will screech and roar!

The shadows are out.

To laugh and play.

With little children until the day.

The ghouls are out but cannot be seen.

This is, Halloween.

Week 4 Activity 3

On the day before Halloween all of my friends get together and make a plan about all of the houses we are going to trick-or-treat at.  We usually go to the richest neighborhoods so we can get to the kingsize candy.  There is no time to waste because we don’t want the little kids to beat us to the good houses. We trick-or-treat for about an hour and then go home to divide up the candy. After we finish trading and sorting our candy we go to one of our friends houses and have a sleepover.  We might watch a movie or just hangout and eat our candy for most of the night until we fall asleep.

Week 3 Activity-1

A favorite time that I have had with my family was walking through downtown New York City and seeing all of  the awesome sights.  Coming from Los Angeles, I didn’t know that buildings could be so huge!  Most of the sky scrapers in LA are mere toys compared to the ones in New York.  I really enjoyed doing this with my family because my Mom and Dad are both from New York so they explained to me all there is to know about the big apple.

Week 3 Activity 2

A family member who has recently passed away is my great-grandma Sally.  My great-grandma was 99 years old, and she was three months away from the big 100 when doctors found cancer in her liver.  My brother and I were really close with our Grandma and we were deeply saddened when she passed away.  She always had a positive attitude even on her last days with us. She will be greatly missed by my family and me.

Avatar

My avatar looks like a character from the TV series South Park and is dressed as a New York Mets baseball player.  This resembles me because I love sports. My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite team is the Mets.  I watch almost all 162 games of the regular season games and I know every player and stat. I made a character from South Park because it’s a funny TV show and I am also very funny.  Funny looking and I also have some good jokes to.

How to Comment

Commenting is a very useful tool to give your input about someones work. Commenting can be used to admire someones work or you could also use it for constructive criticism. If you use it for constructive criticism then it would be easy to forget that you are not talking to the person in real life and you may have a slightly mean tone without realizing it. Always go over what you comment and imagine you were receiving the comment on one of your posts. How would it make you feel? If it wouldn’t feel good if you received that comment, then it most likely would’t feel good for the other person.  In a comment slang should never be used. Words like “sup”, “swag”, and “chillaxin” are all inappropriate for Edublogs. A comment should also always be on topic. Commenting things that have no relevance to the post are useless.  Hopefully this will help you bloggers make great comments!

Comments On Other Blogs

One of the blogs that I visited was Lola’s.  The post that I commented on was “Poem About Me”. I left a comment on this post because I noticed that Lola said she wanted to be a Radiologist. I’ve never met anyone else who wanted to do this so I asked her what led her to this career path. My comment was, “Lola,
What led you to want to become a radiologist? Is someone in your family one, or do you just like that career?” Another persons blog that I visited was Jaden’s. The post that I commented on was “Me Online vs. Me Offline”. I left a comment on this post because I agreed with everything he said about not talking unknown people or strangers online.  My comment was, “I also think its important to not talk to strangers I don’t know online.” Another persons blog that I commented on was Jason’s. The post that I commented on was “Online-vs. Off-line   – Activity One, Week One”. I commented on this because I feel that Jason was right in saying that in person contact is better than screen contact. I commented “I also think that face to face contact is way better than screen to screen.” The last persons blog that I visited and commented on was Joaquins. The name of his post is “Hello, who are you: Activity 1”. I left a comment on his post because I like how he doesn’t change from the internet to reality. I commented “I like how you don’t change from online to offline. I feel like keeping the same personality between both is a great quality to have.”

Online VS Offline

Online I’m very careful about what I say about myself. I won’t talk to strangers online nor offline.  I am also careful about what I post and say because I know that it can never be deleted.  Talking to my friends online is just like talking to friends offline. We joke and kid around, but we are also smart not to post anything that can cause us trouble in the future. Being online can be vey fun, but you must be very careful about what you say and do.
